Making school website management simple
School and Academy websites shouldn't be a nightmare.
I see a good one on occasion, however they regularly miss the mark.
They're not for the school, the trustees, the governors.
They're normally there for one or more of 3 reasons:
1) For parents and pupils to quickly access the information they need - calendars, letters home, links to school learning platforms, email, and more.
2) To showcase the school or academy as one people want to work for, be that teaching or non-teaching staff. Perhaps online application forms as appropriate, and a very easy way to find and access open positions.
3) To attract new pupils - that's aiming at potential students and prospective parents. Both will be looking for different things.
(OK, a 4th, Ofsted, but who likes that word?)
Pretty and flashy looks great, but is it accessible?
Does the navigation and page structure lend itself effectively to the appropriate points above?
How easy is it really for your staff to edit and update the calendar? The news section. How quick is it to add and manage policy documents, letters home...
We worked across 18 schools for over 17 years. 11 years of IT Management, 6 years as School Business Manager.
I was there when the Internet changed from one dial-up computer in the library, to 128k ISDN lines and 'a whole room' of computers online at once (ha, well they tried)....
When actual broadband first arrived.
When fibre brought truly usable Internet to schools.
To managing 18 school websites, and knowing exactly how much ease of use is crucial to reduce the workload and complexity for your staff.
To taking 11+ years running a web design agency and finding a core set of tools that not only allow us to create stunning websites, with the end user in mind at all times - but ones that make it quick and simple for our clients to update and manage the content they require.
I've got a demo academy website set up so I can walk you through how it all works, show you how easy it is for your school to manage.
